Introduction to Design

Course Desription:

This course is an introduction to the elements and principles of design.  It prepares students for the more advanced Graphic Design courses.  It will explore the role of visual elements and design practises in various application context particularly in marketing communication usage.  It introduces students to the basic tools required in computer aided graphic design

Course Objective:

To provide students with an understanding and skills of

1) Basic tools of desktop design

2) Design and Visual Elements in design 

3) Application of design in marketing communication and usage

Learning Outcomes:

Students will be able to:

1) Apply and relate what attracts the eye in their designs

2) Illustrate the elements of design individually and collectively

3) Compose complete visually attractive designs combined with visual messages
